It's Spring (?)

Recent bike shop insanity has caused a lack of blogging, and general loss of personal sanity. Here are some important updates:

This guy is back (bro-tastic).

The venerable Tavern special has jumped 50 cents to $4.00 USD.

This is our new bicycle bridge:

This guy fell off his stool under the sheer force of some road bike.

Your tires should be as wide as your nose. I rock 35's.

This bike is killer (it might be mine...)

There is still no shortage of these.

Its winter

Yep, it is.

Special delivery straight from Kathmandu- a 28 inch wheel for a local rickshaw hailing from Nepal. It came in a hand-sewn burlap sack, complete with nasty bearings and swastika-stamped spokes. I guess the swastika has some religious meaning over there, but this wheel is hilarious. I'll get a closeup soon.

I'm going to eat your brains and gain your knowledge

I've been a semi-busy little bee. After my temporary state of immobility, the desire to create could not be suppressed. First, I gave birth to a moustache-equipped amalgamation of metal and 28mm rubber. I enjoy it.

Then, after seeing some pictures in the innernetz and sort of thinking about it for a year, the Surly-Schwinn drunk bike answered it's higher calling. This is what it has become.

Yes, derailleur-free two-speed bicycle that can be pedaled forward as well as backward, propelling you forward the whole time. Wow. I'm still working out some kinks, (really one big kink) but it works.

After donating the wheels from my Fillmore to the Scorcher, the Filly hung naked for months in back. It has since sprung from hibernation with a makeover new wheels.
Damn, thats a smooth machine.

Broken

I broke my 5th metatarsal on Saturday night. And it wasn't even bike-related. I'll wear the cast for the next month, then a walking boot for another month. Doc says that cycling is the perfect physical therapy to regain my flex-tasticness, so that's a plus.
